PEI's AWS infrastructure had evolved over several years without a consistent strategy, leading to a single account containing all test and production resources with manually deployed workloads. MakeCloud was engaged to restructure their AWS environment following best practices, improving security, reliability, and speed of delivery across the organisation.
The Challenge
PEI Group is a subscriber-focused business intelligence company. Their portfolio of specialist product brands includes Private Equity International, PE Hub and Infrastructure Investor.PEI’s AWS infrastructure evolved over several years. They had a single AWS account containing all test and production infrastructure and workload resources had been deployed manually. Changes were difficult and error-prone, and this slowed down the delivery of features to customers.
The Solution
MakeCloud deployed a new AWS account structure using AWS Control Tower. This enabled PEI to separate production from non-production workloads, plus dedicated AWS accounts for backups and audit logging.All workload infrastructure was defined using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for consistent, repeatable deployments. We configured fully automated CI/CD pipelines for application deployments so that developers can promote releases seamlessly from development to production.

The Results
